Midrash Ikkar

In a new twist on Kollel learning, Rabbi Steinsaltz has formed a unique new study group of ten members from across the spectrum of Israeli life.  Group members are leading figures in today's Israeli culture, each with vast knowledge and accomplishments and highly creative in his or her own field, but who yearn for more.  Members are young and old, religious and secular, male and female, and share a common desire to explore spiritual heights, not merely garner more knowledge.  Group members commit themselves to one full day a week of study, learning in groups and in individual chavruta (study partner) sessions.  Members will also hold four seminars during the year which will be open to the public.  Annual studies will be conducted around a specific topic or text.  The fruits of this study, this cooperative learning journey, will be featured in the joint book that will be published in Hebrew and in English at the end of the year.
