The Moscow Center

The Moscow Center is at the core of the revitalized Jewish community in the Russian capital and serves as the educational, religious, cultural and spiritual heart of the Institute for Jewish Studies in the CIS. It continually pumps the lifeblood of Judaism through teachers, leaders, and students, as well as through schools, programs, organizations, and communities large and small.

The facility serves as a central meeting place for the education and training of community leaders, teachers, scholars, and students from the Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and the Central Asian Republics. Here, Jewish teachers can find curricular materials and pedagogic training. Children learn and play in the arts and crafts center. Individuals of all ages gather to eat and study together on Shabbat and Jewish holidays.

The Moscow Center also houses the main offices of the Institute, where trained staff members, led by Director Dudy Palant, respond to numerous mail and phone requests for assistance and information.

Thousands of Jews from across the FSU have participated in programs at the Moscow Center. Its influence transcends differences of nationality and background, profoundly impacting the lives of Jews from far-western Riga to the eastern reaches of Siberia.
