Mapolet Shevarim

The Gemara on Bava Metzia 105 mentions two methods of farming - mapolet yad (hand seeding) and mapolet shevarim (seeding with oxen). The mechanism above is the one used in mapolet shevarim - it held seeds and was attached to the plow so that the seeds were distributed directly as the plowing was done.
